Our model for bloomtrigger...
The bloomtrigger project aims to raise £100M in order to protect 1 million hectares of rainforest. This is an ambitious amount of money to raise as well as a huge area of rainforest to protect. Therefore the idea is to invest the money generated by 'the bloomtrigger project' into protecting 5 areas of rainforest from different regions across the world, starting with our first project in Peru!
As each piece of rainforest is unique and the threat of deforestation can exist in many different ways, it means there is no single solution to deforestation. Our strategy is to support a range of forestry projects, some big, some small, using a diverse mix of strategies, while ensuring the highest standards of conservation.
We believe that using a broad and comprehensive strategy is the most responsible and effective way to invest the money generated by the people who become a part of the bloomtrigger project. Below is a diagram that shows in 5 steps how the money generated by bloomtrigger will help to protect rainforest on the ground.

| Step 1. |
|
The bloomtrigger project offers individuals, businesses and primary school children a simple, affordable and creative way to protect their own part of the rainforest. |
| Step 2. |
|
Bloomtrigger then works closely with our well established and experienced rainforest charity partners to implement our conservation strategy. |
| Step 3. |
|
The money will be carefully invested into forest communities. The local people are the true 'guardians of the forest' and have long been recognised as the key to protecting forest for the long-term. |
| Step 4. |
|
The communities will use the money to establish initiatives to generate alternative income, such as sustainable agro-forestry, scientific research and eco-tourism; as well as investing in social infrastructure, such as schools and healthcare. The aim is to make the trees worth more standing than cut down. If the community has a sustainable livelihood then they do not need to sell their forests to commercial logging, mining or large-scale agricultural companies. |
| Step 5. |
| Our aim is perpetual forest preservation and we are committing to a 40 year model as a minimum. The protected rainforest will continue to provide the essential global environmental services that people depend on all over the world, such as storing carbon from the atmosphere, generating fresh water for agriculture and regulating global weather patterns, conserving biodiversity as well as protecting the remaining indigenous cultures. |
